Diamond Caverns Adventure
& Anna's Greek Restaurant
- Sponsored by Tony & Gail Brown
Tony and Gail Brown would like to introduce you to a couple of great places in South Central KY.
They will start the day by gathering at the Cracker Barrel at I-65 & Long Hollow Pike, the next exit north of the Rivergate Mall exit, at 11am for a late breakfast or early lunch. They'll be pulling out around 12 Noon for points North and some great backroads into the "Cave Country" of Central Kentucky.
We're headed for DIAMOND CAVERNShttp://www.diamondcaverns.com/, named for it's many beautiful bright geological formations. Diamond Caverns contains a significant number of stalactites, stalagmites, flowstones, etc. And they are all still "alive" and in their formative stages. The half-mile tour takes about an hour, is moderately strenuous and will cost about $15 each.
Following our time spelunking, the Browns will escort us down to Bowling Green about 5pm for a great meal at
Anna's Authentic Greek Restaurant at 535 Three Springs Road in Bowling Green http://www.bggreek.com/. It comes highly recommended by a couple of our clubmembers, Denny & Cheryl Rowlett, who had dinner there in early June.
Just check out their Menu. There is something for every taste, including Spanakopita, Saganaki, Horiatiki, Fasolatha, Mousaka, Youvetsi, Zingara, Gyros, Souvlaki, Octopus, Prawns, Baklava, Galatoboureko. If you love great Greek cuisine, get ready for a real taste treat to write home about. Plus, one of our members might want to "shake their booty" when their Belly Dancer makes her appearance for the evening. Does "Filbert" come to mind.
Following dinner, the Browns will escort us on a leisurely drive back down to Nashville with an ETA of 8pm. This should be a pleasant outing whether you are into good roads, stalactites or Mousaka. Do let the Browns know if you will be "Joining the Fun" on Sep 11 by RSVP'ing to TONY.M.BROWN@vanderbilt.edu or 615-672-0183.
