Oct. 1 - ROCK-A-BILLY ZOOM ZOOM - Sponsored by Phil & Jan Serocki

Come join Phil & Pam Serocki for a scenic ride along the edge of the beautiful Cumberland Plateau & a step back into the past.

The day will start out at the Murfreesboro Shoney's at 1950 S. Church Street (I-24 @ Exit 81B) at 6:30AM, for those eating breakfast. We'll be pulling out for the Plateau at 7:30AM, with a topped off tank, a full belly & an empty bladder, taking back roads to & thru McMinnville, then to the top of Spencer Mountain. We'll take a break at the intersection of Hwy 30 & U.S. 111, before heading North on 111 to our 'hookup' point with the Serockis at the Sparta Wal-Mart at 202 Sam Walton Drive at ~ 10:00AM.

The Serockis will take us East on U.S. 70 to Hw 84, where we will head North to Monterey TN. Hwy 84 is a scenic ride through the hills & meadows of the Cumberland Plateau. Driving thru 'downtown' Monterey, we continue to head further North on Hwy 164 on our way to the "Muddy Pond General Store" (931) 445-7829 at 3608 Muddy Pond Road in Monterey. They are known for their fabulous homemade candies, cheese, bread, handmade bonnets & rocking chairs . The also will be happy to make you a custom belt while you wait. We'll spend about 45 minutes stretching & browsing the store, before getting back on the road & heading further North on Hwy 164. We'll take Hwy 164 through Crawford TN to Hwy 85. Hwy 85 is a pure 'Blast' to drive, with switch backs, hair pins, sweeping curves and beautiful Cumberland Mountain vistas.

We arrive at U.S. 127 and head to the Rock-A-Billy Cafe and General Store (931) 863-3880 The General Store www.cumberlandmountaingeneralstore.com is at 6897 South York Hwy in Clarkrange TN. This will create an immediate flash back to the 'good old days' of you wasted youth. Up front, the store is just chock full of everything imaginable from antiques, to collectibles, to primitives. And hidden in the back is a wonderful 50's Soda Shop http://www.cumberlandmountaingeneralstore.com/GENSTOREa2.html with some of the best Cheeseburgers, fried Onion Rings and Malted Milkshakes, made with hand dipped ice cream & powdered malt. They even have an old fashioned 'thing-a-ma-bob' called a Juke Box, playing your favorite tunes from the 50's, like 'Lost in the 50's Tonight' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ_bkuAZD8A.

Get lost in the Rock-A-Billy Soda Fountain & Cafe, filled with memorabilia from the past. And enjoy some of the best food around, including cherry cokes, ice cream sodas and banana splits, while listening to your favorite oldies !

We will be heading back South on Hwy 85. This time, tighten your seat belt, as the road gets quite twisty, as we head to Gainesboro TN. We will be heading to the Delmonico Winery & Vineyard http://delmonacowinery.com/default.aspx at 600 Lance Drive in Baxter, TN (931) 858-1178 for a tasting and a tour of the facility. They have a wonderful selection of wines http://delmonacowinery.com/contactus.aspx and a perfect place for a photo op.

Gray Sands will be escorting you back to Nashville on I-40, which is just minutes away from the winery.

The Serockis do hope you will be able to join them for a wonderful day, with one foot on the past, and the other foot on the pedal. Just RSVP to Phil or Jan at pserocki@d2us.com or 954-254-3360.
