MAY 10

 - Sponsored by the Thames

Bob & Carol Thames are inviting you to 'Come on Down to Fairfield Glade' on May 10th and join them for some  "ARTS & EATS."

Bob & Carol Thames are planning a good time for all at theCumberland County Playhouse at 221 Tennessee Avenue in Crossville, TN to see  Annie Get Your Gun. Sharpshooter Annie Oakley falls for Frank Butler, the star of a Wild West Show. It's a shotgun wedding made in heaven, all set to a brilliant Irving Berlin Score. The story is a fictionalized version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), a sharpshooter who starred in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show and her romance with  Frank Butler. MCMC members who have attended the Playhouse in the past have been impressed with the quality of the shows. And this promises to be a real Hoot. The Playhouse expects a sellout.

Tickets for the play are at a group rate of $24 per person, and Bob has made arrangements for individuals to call the Playhouse (931) 484-5000, select seats from the Music City Miata Club / Bob Thames 'seating block', make payment arrangements with their card and pick up your tickets at "Will Call' window on the day of the play.  However, any seats not spoken for, or reserved, by May 3rd, must be relinquished. Tickets may still be available after that date, but seating will be separate from the group.

The day trip to Crossville begins with a meetup & breakfast at the Mt. Juliet Cracker Barrel (I-40 Exit 216) at 9:00 AM on May 10th. We'll pull out at 10:00AM with a "full belly", a topped off tank & an empty bladder and head east on some great backroads toward the Cumberland Plateau. The Sands will lead the group for a hookup with Bob and Carol at the rest stop on the Caney River just west of Cookeville on I-40 (mile marker #267). They will then escort us on to Crossville, arriving at the Playhouse close to 12:30PM.

After the Matinee, which begins at 1:00PM, we will trek over to the Thames house at 12 Milnor Circle on Lake Dartmoor in Fairfield Glade for barbecue, beverages & a boat ride, for those interested. (If interested in the boat ride, please let Bob know, as he will need to make arrangements.) The Thames will be cooking & serving burgers, ribs & chicken kabobs from their backyard grill. And the MCMC attendees will be asked to provide appropriate sides, such as potato salad, BBQ'd beans, chips, salad, desserts, etc. Please call Carol at (931) 210-4339 for guidance on what side to bring to the picnic.  The meat will be supplied by the club, and you can bring your favorite beverage.

Following the play and picnic in Fairfield Glade, we'll drop back down onto I-40 around 6:30PM  and scoot back into Nashville.

And all you need to do is RSVP to or (931) 484-3393. It's just that simple.
