Well here's the plan for MCMC's participation in Miata World II.   We will be meeting at the Shoney's at 7745 Hwy 70 South in Bellevue (I-40 Exit 196) for Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. We'll be taking off for Texas at 8:30 a.m. on I-40 with numerous rest stops, icluding lunch. We should reach Texarkana, AK, at around 7 p.m..   Yes, I have a block of rooms reserved at the LaQuinta in Texarkana AK for Wednesday evening. It's fairly new and reasonably priced at $70 (35% of the cost of an extra night at The Texan). You will just need to tell me you will be stopping with us in Texarkana for the evening when you respond. No need to call the Hotel. I'll put your name on a room and get your confirmation #. We may stop for dinner before arriving in Texarkana, but will probably wait till after we check in to our rooms.   Please let me know what your plans are, whether you will not be making the trip down with the group OR whether you will be joining us out of Nashville, but will be driving on into Grapevine on Wednesday evening. By stopping in Texarkana, we won't have to run at breakneck speed, we can have an enjoyable dinner, we can get a better night's sleep, have more energy on Thursday and save about $130 on Wednesday nights lodging at the Texan. Please confirm you intent by Email, so we know when/where to look for your smiling faces.   Following breakfast on Thursday morning the 21st, we'll try to pull out for Grapevine at 8:30 a.m. and should arrive at The Texan by 1 p.m.   The rest of our plans will be dependent on what you choose to participate in during the Event. I'll try to make that information available as it becomes available to me.   I know we are all planning on winning that beautiful little car at the banquet on Sunday evening. The odds for someone in our Club to win is will be 3.7% OR 1 in 27.   We will be traveling homeward on Monday morning, May 25. Departure time probably around 8:30 a.m.. Some will want to drive straight through. And some will want to stop and spend Monday night on the road, say in Memphis. If we drive straight through, we will probably be back in Nashville between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.. Let us know if you will be joining the fun. You must register on line and registration will be limited. So don't get left in Nashville. The website (www.MiataWorldII.com) will be activated on, or shortly after, May 21st.   Message from Bret Bailey, President of the Lone Star Miata Club in charge of local Mazda Event Coordination.    There will lots of things to see and do in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, so you are encouraged to come early & stay late. Many of the details about the event are still in the planning stages and being worked out. However, we hope to have the registration site up and running by the end of May (we are working with a vendor for the registration site, so this date may slip a little). The event will be held at the Gaylord Texan. Here is a link to the hotel, http://gaylordhotels.com/gaylordtexan. This is a great facility and we have a great rate negotiated with them. They are unable to take reservations more than a year in advance so they should be ready for reservations about the same time our registration site is ready. We will have 3 different events at the Texas Motor Speedway, http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com. You will be able to drive the big oval in your Miata, you will be able to drive the "Inside Track" and there will be a sanctioned SCCA rally as well. TMS is opening part of the stands, the pit area, bathrooms, and vending for our event. There may even be a sactioned Mazda Cup Race on Sunday. All three of these events should be available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (Sunday may be shortened due to the Mazda Cup Race). There will be multiple Drive Outs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, some special interest runs, a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo, and time to visit with fellow Miatphiles. We will also have a large, indoor, vendor area at the Hotel. Mazda has promised to provide a very special 2009 Special Edition Miata to give away as a door prize at the big banquet on Sunday as well as many other items of interest.   The Music City Miata Club will "hook up" with members of other Miata Clubs out of the East & Southeast for the drive down to Texas.
