May 28

Amber Falls Winery & Cajun Crawfish Festival

  • Sponsored by Don and Bev McLain

What a great way to start your Memorial Day weekend.  WOW, breakfast in the Fork, twisting Miata roads through the beautiful Hill Country of  Middle Tennessee, authentic Cajun food & live Cajun music, great home grown wines, all with your Miata Club Buds !  That’s the best way we know of to spend Saturday, May, 28th.

This fun day will start at Leiper’s Fork.  Catch a great (and reasonably priced) breakfast at either Puckett’s Grocery/Restaurant or Country Boy Restaurant.  We suggest getting there at 8:00 a.m. if you are having breakfast there.  For those of you who would like some help finding the Fork, we will meet on the Franklin Square at 7:30AM and Gray Sands (419-3943) will lead that group to Leiper’s Fork. Gray will pull out at 7:40.

We will depart Leiper’s Fork at 9:00AM.  Our first road out of Leiper’s Fork is Floyd Road on the east side of town.We will be taking the back roads from Leiper’s Fork to Hwy 246 in Williamson County and Hwy 247 to Maury County on the way to Cross Bridges on Hwy 412.  We’ve included some great twisties and some beautiful country scenery. From Cross Bridges we go west on Hwy 412 and climb the ridge to Amber Falls Winery, at 794 Ridgetop Road in Hampshire TN (931) 285-0088 for tasting and their “Cajun Festival Day”.

Last year they served 2,200 lbs. of boiled crawfish at this event.  Admission is $10 per person.  (This is a benefit also for the Boys and Girls Club of that area and most of the admission fee goes to them.) A glass is included with your admission. You can buy the food items of your choice at the event.  Jambalaya, Boudin, and Fried alligator will be available for $6 each, and boiled crawfish will be available for $18 for all you want at one sitting.  Purchasing a $40 admission ticket gets you a glass, and a ticket for each of the 4 food items and can be shared with another person.  Sodas and water can be purchased on site for $1.00 and, of course, excellent wine at reasonable prices can be purchased from Amber Falls.

No coolers, picnics/food, or outside wines/beverages will be permitted. Music will be provided by a live band direct from Lafayette Louisiana.  A designated parking area will be provided for MCMC.  Shuttle service will be provided to the winery via horse drawn coaches and golf carts.  Stay as long as you wish, eat and enjoy the music, wine, friends in a beautiful natural setting, and depart to enjoy the rest of the day, as you wish.

This promises to be a memorable Holiday Festival enhanced by Amber Fall's outstanding wine and all your Miata Club Cajun buddies..
