Carl & Ann Seidler, a couple of our oldest members, who reside up in the
great state of Kentucky, have planned quite a diverse and interesting day for the Club on Saturday, May 22. (SEE attached Word Document for more information.)
The day will start with a visit to the historical settlement in South Union, Ky. The tour will include the Shaker Museum www.shakermuseum.com and grounds, and will provide a glimpse of what life was like in the settlement from 1807 to 1922. Admission is $5 each. An additional treat that day will include the Antique & Garden Market in the newly renovated 1875 grain barn.
The second treat of the day will include a trip to the historic Federal Grove www.federalgrove.com Bed & Breakfast in Auburn, Ky, where we'll enjoy a nice luncheon, including meat, sides, beverage, dessert, tax & gratuity at $16 each. Note: Desert will be served later in the afternoon. Most major credit cards are accepted.
A historic home, Federal Grove has always been known for hospitality dating all the way back to 1835 when travelers from Louisville or Nashville would stop over for a short stay. And, by most accounts, Federal Grove is the southernmost maple syrup producing estate in the United States. They guarantee their syrup will be 100% pure and the best you've ever tasted.
Then, around 12:45 pm, Carl & Ann have planned an event which the Music City Club experiences only infrequently. That's one of the reasons why it is so special. The Seidlers have planned an honest to goodness Road Rallye. They will provide everyone with a briefing and instructions. And they encourage each car to have both a Pilot and a Navigator. It won't take you too long to figure out why.
The Rallye will last from 1 pm to around 3:30 pm, and we'll wind up where we started, at Federal Grove. Well, at least some of us will. The entry fee for each car will be $10 cash. The Seidlers will tally the Rallye results and award a 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prize, as well as "Loser's Award." If, you've never run in a Rallye before, we'll assure you that you'll have fun, even if you get tangled up and get lost. So don't be bashful.
During the tally, we will have a post rallye desert, followed by standing announcements and prize awards. We'll head home just after 4 pm.
To begin the day, we'll be meeting up at the Cracker Barrel at I-65, Exit 96 at Long Hollow Pike (Hwy 174). If you wish to have a light breakfast, plan on arriving around 7:30 am. We will be pulling out for South Union, Ky, at around 8:30 am with a full tank and an empty bladder (no rest stop is planned).
SO, as you can see, our Kentucky friends have a big day planned for you. And they would love to have you "Join the Fun." For planning purposes, please let them know if you will be attending by No
