- Sponsored by Laura Key
WARNING ! Not for the faint of heart. Laura Key is about to escort you into another dimension. One beyond your wildest imagination. She's taking the Music City Miata Club 333 Under. She promises some great Southern Comfort music, and you'll still live to tell about it. Laura is taking us to Cumberland Caverns & Bluegrass Underground. NEITHER the Twilight Zone or Purgatory. And she would like to have you come along Just For The Hell Of It . . . .
Here's our plan. We will gather at the Cracker Barrel in Murfreesboro at I-24, Exit 81B at 7:45am for breakfast. Everyone participating will pull out at 8:30am, with a full belly, a full tank & an empty bladder. And, don't forget you FRS radios. Laura has some great roads planned as we move up onto the Cumberland Plateau for a leisurely drive through McMinnville and beyond to the Cumberland Caverns at 1437 Cumberland Caverns Road in McMinnville TNhttp://cumberlandcaverns.com, with an ETA of 10:45am.
For those members who
are interested in taking a guided tour of Cumberland Caverns at 11am, and attending the Bluegrass Underground http://www.bluegrassunderground.comperformance, which begins at 1pm, a check in the amount of $29 (group discounted price per member) should be made out to 'MCMC'. Those attending the tour & show are to pick up their tickets at the Box Office, and they will be released following the tour to join the others in the Volcano Room around 12:30pm for the show. A snack might be suggested to tide you over to dinner.
For those members interested in the Bluegrass Show only, a check in the amount of $16 (group discounted price per member) should also be made out to 'MCMC'. Those opting for the Bluegrass Underground Show only are to pick up their tickets at the Box Office before Noon, with the first groups escorted to the Volcano Room beginning at Noon for the 1pm show. If you want to skip the Cracker Barrel and the Tour and hook up with the group at the Cumberland Caverns for just the show, be sure and let Laura know and plan to arrive on your own by 12noon.
All checks should be sent to Laura Key at 1371 Apple Valley Court, Cookeville, TN 38501 for arrival no
later
than
May 1, 2011. Please RSVP your plans to join the Event to Laura at lkey@twlakes.net or (931) 261-1010.
The Volcano Room is the largest functional room in the cave, and some 333 feet below the surface. It has the reputation of outstanding acoustics and live radio broadcasts. The outstanding Bluegrass show will feature Alecia Nugenthttp://www.alecianugent.com/bio.htm, with her great voice, having performed in Scotland and at the Celtic Connections Festival. And, she is a three time recipient of the female vocalist of the year award, featured in "Hillbilly Goddess".
Alecia will be followed by a musical group out of Michigan, Greensky Bluegrasshttp://www.greenskybluegrass.com, winner of the Telluride Music Festival with a unique, but comfortable, bluegrass feel. The show will conclude by 3pm.
Laura, will then lead us back out into the daylight, east out of McMinnville onto Hwy 30, through Spencer TN, through valley's and across mountains to Fall Creek Falls Park Lodge http://www.myfallcreekfalls.com where we'll enjoy their great Southern Style Buffet Dinner at roughly 5pm. The group will disperse and find its way home following dinner.
Let's all "Dig" some Bluegrass, 333 feet under.
