47th ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION
Erin St. Patrick's Day Parade
SPONSORED BY DEB PARKER
Deb Parker, the Official Music City Miata Club Leprechaun, is inviting you to join
her in Erin on the 21st of March for a little Irish Mischief, and a whole lot of Irish Blarney, as we help the sleepy little Hamlet of Green with its 47th annual parade & celebration of Saint Patrick's Day. The parade route is usually lined with 8 to 12K smiling people. The Celebration is billed as the largest south of Chicago. And Deb's personality turns to pure "exhibitionist" once she takes the lead club position for the annual Irish Parade in Erin.
The annual Parade outing is on Saturday the 21st. And, NO, it doesn't fall on Saint Patrick's Day this year. It is always on the third Saturday in March every year. And the Music City Miata Club has made it a traditional First Rite of Spring. AND, if you've never participated with the Club in the Erin parade, it's guaranteed to put a broad smile on your face, and everyone you see.
We will meet at the (I-40W & Charlotte Pike, Exit 201) Cracker Barrel. If headed west, exit to the right off of I-40 and to the right at the bottom of the ramp, then an immediate left into the Cracker Barrel. For those of you who want breakfast, plan on arriving at 7a.m. For you sleepy heads, Deb will be pulling out for Erin at 8 a.m. This will give us plenty of time to stop once or twice in route to Erin for potty breaks, as needed.
We will be taking scenic backroads route along the Cumberland River north, and then Route 49 west, which is a nice twisty road. Deb will provide printed instructions at the Cracker Barrel. Have a full tank of gas, and bring your FRS radios with fresh batteries.
This should place us at the staging location for the Parade at 10 a.m. and give us plenty of time to decorate our cars for the parade. As usual, the Club will supply green & white helium filled balloons for your cars. And we encourage you use creative imagination with the rest of your embellishment (humongous hats, garland, four leaf clovers, leprechauns, dragons) in a deluge of bright GREEN.
The Club will also be broadcasting synchronized upbeat Celtic/Irish music from our cars along the route. And Erin does encourage you to toss as much candy as you can afford, AND get in your little car (along with the decorations) all along the parade route. If you decide to bring candy and don't want to run out before we get to the center of town, we recommend bringing at least 10 pounds. And Deb requests that you bring plenty of Irish Spirit & Wear The Green (whether Irish or not). The Parade begins at precisely 11 a.m.
Following the parade, Deb will lead us back across town for lunch at the Rustic Timbers B&B. This is a new B&B which caters home-made dishes to delight your tastes, served in a fabulous 4,000 sq. ft. log cabin, featuring "The Old Oak Dining Room." It is located just northwest of Erin off of Highway 49 in Tennessee Ridge, TN.
Deb is asking for commitments for the trip, the parade & lunch by March 14, so Rustic Timbers can be ready for our group. When you RSVP, PLEASE tell Deb the number of participants for the meal, and whether you will want Corned Beef & Cabbage, Roast Beef OR Chicken for your Entree', to make sure there's enough food for our crew. The cost per person for this luncheon is $15, which includes the entree', a salad, vegetable, dessert & drink.
So plan on contacting Deb Parker at debparker99@comcast.net OR (615) 325-3444 by March 14.
This is a great opportunity to get out, shake off the cobwebs, clean up your poor little car and enjoy the leading edge of Springtime in Tennessee.
