Scheduled for: 6/28/2008
Sponsored by: Bill Bell
JUNE 28th - MCMC BELL WITCH HUNT & DINNER AT SHADY CLIFF - Sponsored by BILL BELL & Carl Seidler

I received a phone call back on July 21st of 2007 from a total stranger by the name ofWilliam Bell. Bill indicated that he was a member of the Puget Sound (Washington State) Miata Club, that he was a direct descendent of the now famous Bell Family, and that he would like to sponsor a Music City Miata Club Event. He further indicated that he could be in the Nashville area in late June of 2008, to celebrate his birthday, visits some relatives & to provide MCMC with a planned/guided tour & history of the Adams, TN location of the Bell Family's (personal) Witch.

Well, how could I possible refuse such an offer ?

So, it is with great pleasure that I announce the MCMC Bell Witch (http://www.bellwitch.org/home.htm) Hunt on June 28th, 2008. Bill has considerable knowledge & enthusiasm regarding the Bell family history and Adams TN. And, I anticipate quite a bit of curiosity & interest from our Nashville clubmembers in this event. The Bell Family Haunting is one of the best documented manifestations of a Witch from the 18th century in the United States.

We'll be meeting for a late breakfast at the Cracker Barrel at Long Hollow Pike (Exit # 97) off of I-65 north at 9:00 AM and take off for Adams, KY at 10:00 AM. Carl Seidler has selected some good Miata roads and we should arrive in Adams shortly after 11:00 AM.

We will be setting aside about two to two & a half hours in Adams, with the option of touring the Bell Witch Cave (http://www.bellwitchcave.com/cave.htm), a replica Log Cabin & the Bell School House. Bill will provide his insight from a family perspective & should be able to arrange for a speaker in the  auditorium of the School House to add local insight into the Haunting of the Bell family. If you are interested, the fee for the 30-40 minute Cave Tour is $10 each. Many believe that when the Bell Witch departed, she fled into the sanctuary of the cave. AND, it is emphasized NOT to take anything out of the cave that you did not take in. The "Old Girl" might just decide come along for a ride. If you wish to view the Log Cabin, the fee is $5 each. And Bill will escort us thru the Bell family cemetary. So, if you've always been kinda curious about the folklore and authenticity of the stories of the Bell Witch, this should be just your "Cup of Tea."

Following the visit to Adams, at 1:30 or 2:00 PM, Carl & Ann have selected an outstanding route to beautiful Lake Malone for lunch at the Shady Cliff Resort Lodge & Marina at 530 Lake Malone in Lewisburg KY (http://www.shadycliffresort.com/). Our reservation is for 3:00 PM. Menu recommendations by owner Nat Nofsinger, include catfish and homemade Sawdust pie. After our late lunch, we'll travel a few more scenic roads in the area, before taking a more direct route back home.

Send your RSVP's to Gray Sands (graype@bellsouth.net or 615-794-0852).
