Tour of Macon County, The Red Barn Winery & Gibson Cafe

sponsored by Sarah & Kyle Martin

OK FOLKS, it's time for Kyle & Sarah Martin to show you their little piece of Tennessee. They are inviting you to come along on a day-long tour of Macon County and all points contiguous. They call that part of the world "Home" and know the best Miata roads like the back of their hands. So, they want you to come along, so they can show you their backyard & playground.

We'll start off at 8 a.m. with breakfast at the Mount Juliet Cracker Barrel (I-40 @ Exit 226) and plan on pulling out around 9 a.m. with a full tank, full belly & empty bladder. They'll be taking some of the best roads in the area at a reasonably nice clip to all points north and east of Lebanon, and  possibly on up into the edge of Kentucky towards Scottsville, on some backroads we've never traveled.

They have made arrangements for a special lunch at Gibson's Cafe in Lafayette at around 12 Noon. Gibson's is not normally open on a Saturday, but the Martins have sweet talked them into providing us with a limited sample of their Menu items for our dining pleasure (around $10 each including Tax & Drink)  Maybe even a special dessert. BTW, Kyle promises, " no squirt guns."

From there, some more great roads on the way to the Red Barn Winery, arriving at about 3 p.m.  Sarah indicates that it's one of her favorite wineries in Tennessee, with a good selection and reasonable prices. We'll definitely do some sampling. It might be wise to stick some fruit & cheese in your cooler for the trip.

Then, we'll take off for Red Boiling Springs with an ETA of 4:30 p.m., where we'll have an opportunity to tour the Thomas House (last visited by MCMC in the Spring of 2001), the Armour Hotel & "Cycle Mo's".

The Martins will provide "the way," and all you have to provide is '"the will." Come Join the Fun, as Kyle & Sarah lead in the exploration of Macon County and beyond. Let then know of your intend to come along by contacting them at dragontears35@hotmail.com OR (615) 655-4023 (C).
