Red, White & Blue Independence Day Parade

The Music City Miata Club typically participates in a couple of parades each year. We are usually well received and normally invited back because of the enthusiasm with which our members engage in the decoration of their Miatas and because of the contagious nature of the crowd interaction and pure fun involved. And occasionally we bring home a trophy for best of class. The club has never participated in an 4th of July Parade.

This year, we have received a specialinvitation to participate in theIndependence Day Parade in Lewisburg TN. This year's Theme is "Happy Birthday America"If you have not participated in a parade with the club before, we might suggest you go to our website and check the pictures associated with the recent Veteran's Day Parade http://www.musiccitymiataclub.com/nov-6----clarksville-veterans--day-parade---lunch.htm. I would suggest you shop for your birthday decorations early at Party City or Old Time Pottery, as they are not always available at the last minute. If you prefer, the club will furnish big Red, White & Blue helium filled balloons to tie to your car for our run thru the parade route. One of the features of the Lewisburg parade is that they allow candy to the tossed to the crowd along the route. So, we would suggest that you bring along 10 to 15 pounds of candy to add to the spectator enjoyment. Remember that chocolate melts in July. As usual, Mike & Gail Schultz will be broadcasting some great patriotic music, as we run along the parade route. We'll announce the FM frequency before we join the parade.

Following the parade,Don & Bev McLainhave stepped up and invited all MCMC parade participants to aPot Luck BBQ Picnic at their place in Lewisburg. Don fancies himself as quite the Chef. And he's willing to let you be the judge. He'll be cooking up a big mess of pork ribs to celebrate the 4th.All you need to do is bring along an item that "goes with" a picnic involving ribs (cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, corn-on-the-cob, watermelon, assorted desserts. etc.). And do bring your beverage of choice & your chairs-in-a-bag. The McLains will be serving the ribs & providing the plates, cups, ice, eating utensils, big napkins, etc.)

Following lunch, we may hop in our Miatas and take a run down to Lynchburg and check out the celebration on the square.

Some MCMC members have already indicated that they are accepting Lewisburg's invitation to celebrate our demonstrate our Patriotic Pride on the 4th. All are welcome to join the fun. We'll provide final details in a few weeks..

Please respond to Gray graype@bellsouth.net or (615) 794-0852upon receipt of this memo, if you decide to participation.
