DEC 5
Scottsville Christmas Parade
SPONSORED BY THE BREWERS

Phil & Betty Ann Brewer are issuing a special invite to all (and they mean ALL) Music

City Miata Club members to help them get into the Christmas spirit and join them for the 2009 Scottsville Kentucky Christmas Parade. The parade is on Saturday Dec. 5.

The parade will kick off at 4:30 p.m., just as it starts getting dark.  We will need to be at the Dollar General parking lot in Scottsville between 2:30 and 3 p.m.   Phil has made a "dry run" to make sure he has a good route which is not aggressive, just nice sweeping curves and beautiful scenery.  This route will take about an hour to drive.

So here’s the scoop.  We’ll meet at Cracker Barrel at Exit 108 of I-65 North. You may want to have lunch there since we won’t have dinner until 7 p.m.. Those of you wishing to have lunch should plan on arriving by 12 or 12:30p.m..  We’ll leave there at 1:30 p.m. for Scottsville.

After some good backroads, we’ll arrive at Scottsville, settle in to decorate our cars and get ready for the parade.  After the parade, we’ll strip off the decorations and head up 31E about 10 miles to the Barren River State Park for dinner at 7 p.m..  The dinner is a scrumptious buffet at a cost of $14.28 plus tax and tip each. Then we'll head on back to Nashville. If you wish to spend the night at the park lodge, call for reservations at (270) 646-2071 and you, as a MCMC member, will be provided a room for $44.95 ($11off their regular rate).

Since the parade is night time, your decorations can include lights, but it is not necessary. All you need to run a full load of twinkle lights, or other lighted decorations (including a blow up Santas, or a Christmas Tree), on your little Miata, is a 140W power inverter you can usually pick up at K-Mart or Auto Zone for under $30. AND, the club will be broadcasting upbeat Christmas songs via a FM Transmitter, so that all of the Miatas in the parade will play synchronized music to the crowd from each car radio. If you have a favorite Christmas tune you'd like Phil to add to the CD, email him and give him your request. Up tempo songs seem to work best. The club will be providing traditional Green,Red & White helium filled balloons to hang on your car, as part of your decorations. How you decorate your Miata is limited only by your imagination. But the parade will be fun, if you just show up and run the route with Phil & Betty Ann.

The Allen County Chamber of Commerce asks that no one dress as Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus. However, Santa hats are permitted and encouraged.  CANDY is permitted, just make sure to throw if off the street (for safety purposes).  If you do bring candy, please remember to bring plenty. This promises to be a 10 to 15-pound parade. It’s a fairly long parade route, and there are many, many cute and appreciative kids along the way.

Please let Phil know if you plan on attending by Tuesday, Dec. 1.  The parade committee has asked for a car count so that they can plan on the number of cars and our placement in the parade.  Phil's email address is pcbrewer.1@comcast.net or call him at (615) 337-4967(C).

If you haven't ever been in a nighttime Christmas Parade, this event is a always real HOOT ! Hope to see as many of you as possible, so we can pump up your Christmas spirit in preparation for the Holidays.

Check out last year's parade!
