French Quarter Fest Sponsored by Jerry Hammock
Alright fun seekers, time to head back to New Orleans!
It will be Springtime at Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde, The River Front, Preservation Hall, Bourbon Street, Pat O'Brien's. And just in time for the French Quarter Fest (http://www.frenchquarterfest.com/fqfi_schedule.html.) We'll be heading down on April 16 and coming back, tired and weary, on April 19.
The French Quarter Fest is a 3-day event of some 18 venues, 150 performances, 450 musicians, and 250 hours of music located in the French Quarter. All types of music (Jazz, R&B, Funk, Brass Bands, Folk, Gospel, Latin, Classic, International, Zadeco, Cajun and more) will be featured -- and ALL FOR FREE, throughout the day and evening. We'll just wander around, adult beverage in hand and enjoy the sights and sounds of Old New Orleans (I can almost taste a Hurricane).
And, if there's enough interest, we can take a short drive over to Oak Alley Plantation for a tour. This a classic plantation, just like you would picture in your mind. I think the entrance way, lined by live oaks, is the most impressive sight and photo op you will ever experience. The tours are $15 each and well worth it. Check out their web site www.oakalleyplantation.com
I have a block of 10 rooms reserved at the Holiday Inn French Quarter (yes, in the heart of the French Quarter) located on Royal Street, one block over from Canal Street and Bourbon Street. The daily rate for the rooms are $159 plus $13 parking, for a total of $172 plus taxes. Reservations are made by individual call-ins to 1-800-447-2830 ext. These rooms will be available until Mar. 16, after which, any rooms not reserved by you, will be returned to inventory.
So, let me know if you want to experience Nawlins, the "Quarter", the food, the beverages, the history and most of all, THE MUSIC!! AAAEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !
