Aug 25 — National Corvette Museum & Motorsports Park

Sponsored by the Yarbers

Come join us for a big day touring the National Corvette Museum, running the track, eating lunch and a country drive, finishing with ice cream! Do you remember the sinkhole at the National Corvette Museum?  Well…….not only you get to see where the sinkhole was in the museum, you can also experience that ultimate feeling driving into the “sinkhole” turn at the NCM Motorsports Park on August 25th!

We’ll start the day at Cracker Barrel in Goodlettsville exit #97 I-65 at 7:30 AM and depart at 7:45 AM for the short drive to the National Corvette Museum at I65 Exit #28 in Bowling Green, KY. Adult admission price at the door will be a max of $10 and down to $7 each if we get 15+ folks to come!

We will tour the Museum until 11:00 AM, gather and drive on Porter Pike to the track (about 2 miles). At the track, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM , we will be greeted and lined up for the “Touring Laps”.

For $45 per car at the door, you will get 4 laps with speeds up to 100 mph with a group of 5 cars, paced by a Corvette around the 3.2 mile road course with a “sinkhole ” turn.  The laps will last about 3 minutes.  Helmets are not required and you can have a passenger Yeeehaw!!!

Afterwards, as you catch your breath, we’ll be hungry and head to the Smokey Pig for some chow. With an option to return to the Museum, we’ll continue on a drive through the countryside (starting on Porter Pike again) ending at Chaneys Dairy Barn for ice cream for a sweet ending to a fantastic day.

As you will be signing waivers to participate in the “Touring Laps”, DO CHECK with your insurance agent as some policies do not cover damage to your car, liability and/or personal injury at or on a race track. Be sure to indicate to your agent that this is a “PACED” run around the track.

During the July meeting, Michael will be giving tips for running the NCM track, don’t miss it! You are welcome to do any of the items on the menu and can watch the others run the track. We’ll need a head count for each of the venues so RSVP by August 18th at  mly1971@gmail.com
