Let’s make a STIR in Chattanooga

It’s short notice, but let’s take a scenic drive over the mountain to wonderful downtown Chattanooga and visit a new stylish restaurant near the Choo Choo — STIR. They boast the freshest local ingredients, oyster bar, craft cocktails and artisanal ice.

“STIR uses the freshest ingredients available, refreshing food and beverage menus regularly to highlight seasonal delicacies and keep the creative juices flowing. Every bite and every sip at STIR is crafted daily from scratch, using ingredients predominately from farms and vendors within 100 miles of Chattanooga. Influenced by the rich, more than century old history of the Chattanooga Choo Choo – where the restaurant is located – STIR offers a place for friends and family to re-connect in a space that weaves a modern, urban aesthetic with historic remnants of the iconic terminal station,” says their website. We’ll be meeting at 9:30 AM at Cracker Barrel at Exit 81B, Murfreesboro and departing at 10:00 AM sharp. Let Phil Matisak know you’re coming by texting him at 615-476-0934 or via email at pjmatisak@comcast.net, asap but no later than noon, Friday, Sept 14.

We’ll be taking back roads through a variety of small towns including Bradyville, Viola, Gruetli-Laager, Griffith Creek, and Powells Crossroads. Then we’ll pickup Suck Creek Rd through the Prentice Cooper State Forest, down to Cherokee Trail to Signal Mountain Rd, and motor down across the Tennessee River into beautiful downtown Chattanooga.

We’ll make a few comfort stops, and make a few pictures along the way, but we plan not to dilly-dally too much since we’ll lose an hour moving into the Eastern Time zone. I estimate we’ll arrive around 2pm EST for a late lunch.

Afterwards, we’ll play it by ear, and perhaps walk around the area to enjoy some of the nearby sights. Folks will be free to head back at their own pace, but Phil will lead whoever wants to travel as a group back to Nashville via Interstate 24.

It’s been a while since we’ve headed to Chattanooga. So if you’ve got an opening in your schedule for this Saturday, Sept 15, meet us at the Cracker Barrel at Exit 81B in Murfreesboro about 9:30 AM for a 10 AM departure.

Let Phil know you’re coming by texting him at 615-476-0934 or via email at pjmatisak@comcast.net.
As always, we ask that if your plans change after you commit to come along, please let Phil know, so we don’t wait on you needlessly.

Let’s zoom-zoom-zoom with safety and courtesy!
